Agnieszka Wilczyńska Live at Evergreen Theatre (2025)
On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Evergreen Theatre in Coquitlam, BC, hosted Polish jazz vocalist Agnieszka Wilczyńska, with an opening act by The Jodi Proznick Quartet.
Agnieszka Wilczyńska
Agnieszka Wilczyńska is a highly acclaimed Polish jazz vocalist from Szczecin. A graduate of the prestigious Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, she quickly gained recognition, winning top prizes at major jazz vocal competitions. She's a familiar face at Poland's leading jazz festivals like Jazz Jamboree and has collaborated with legends of Polish jazz including Włodzimierz Nahorny and Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski. Beyond performing, Agnieszka has shared her expertise, teaching jazz vocals at renowned institutions. Her talent is recognized with two gold records, including one for her interpretations of Krzysztof Komeda's music. She proudly serves as an Ambassador for her hometown of Szczecin.
The Jodi Proznick Quartet
The National Jazz Award winning Jodi Proznick Quartet is led by bassist Jodi Proznick, one of Canada's most acclaimed jazz musicians who gained early recognition when the group received the Galaxie Rising Star Award at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in 2004.The quartet achieved major success with their debut album "Foundations," released in 2006, which earned them significant acclaim by winning Album of the Year and Acoustic Group of the Year at the 2008 National Jazz Awards and receiving a nomination for Traditional Jazz Album of the Year at the 2009 Juno Awards. Jodi Proznick herself has been nominated for three Juno Awards and was named Jazz Artist of the Year at the 2019 Western Canadian Music Awards, and she continues to be a prominent figure in the Vancouver jazz scene alongside her educational work as an instructor and her involvement in other collaborative projects.
