Arntzen's Three Generations

The Arntzens are a renowned Vancouver musical family spanning three generations, deeply rooted in the New Orleans jazz tradition. Led by patriarch Lloyd Arntzen, the group features his sons Tom and Leif, and grandsons Evan and Miles, all accomplished musicians.

Lloyd, a Vancouver jazz icon, instilled a love for music in his family early on, famously asking his grandchildren what instrument they wanted to play, not if. While the core includes Lloyd, Tom, Leif, Miles, and Evan, other family members often join performances.

The group has performed widely, including at North Vancouver's Summer Concert Series, Crescent Beach Legion, and even New York's Highline Ballroom. They released a live CD, "3 Generations in Jazz," in 2006, recorded at Vancouver's Cellar Jazz Café.

Hot Mammas

The Hot Mammas are a dynamic vocal trio featuring Georgina Arntzen (Tom's wife, Evan and Arnt's mother), Julie Brown, and Mary Ella Young. Known for their "sizzle and sparkle," they perform, write original songs, and record with prominent Vancouver jazz musicians.

Georgina, a versatile musician and teacher, has toured extensively and made numerous TV appearances. The trio frequently collaborates with other artists, adding to the rich musical tapestry of the Vancouver jazz scene.
