About the Band
Bonnie Northgraves All Stars
The Bonnie Northgraves All Stars ensemble brings together top-tier musicians from Vancouver's vibrant jazz scene under the leadership of the dynamic trumpeter and vocalist Bonnie Northgraves. This configuration features a rotating lineup of Vancouver's finest players, assembled for special performances and recordings.
Collaborators often include authentic New Orleans-style clarinetist Joe Abbott, upright bassist Joe Lubinsky-Mast, 1920s/30s jazz guitarist Josh Roberts, and energetic drummers like Seth Kitamura and Oscar Reynolds. The expanded instrumentation allows for a richer, layered sound compared to Northgraves' regular groups, showcasing the collective virtuosity of Vancouver's traditional jazz community.
Performances highlight extended improvisations, intricate arrangements, and the unique energy of each specific lineup. The All Stars embody Northgraves' signature blend of vintage authenticity and contemporary energy, delivered with technical mastery and joyful passion.
