Zaduszki 2025 Recap

Zaduszki Jazzowe (All Souls' Day Jazz Festival) took place on October 31, 2025, at Polish Hall Zgoda - Lower Venue in Vancouver. The evening featured performances by the James Danderfer Quartet. Traditionally, at the end of October and beginning of November, this event honors those who have passed - Zaduszki means "All Souls night", a time to remember and celebrate.





About the Musicians

James Danderfer Quartet

The James Danderfer Quartet is led by award-winning saxophonist, clarinetist and composer James Danderfer, who has impressed audiences around the world with his warm sound, melodic compositions and lyrical improvising style.

A graduate of Western Michigan University and McGill University, Danderfer has performed and recorded with some of the finest jazz musicians in North America including Steve Nelson, Quincy Davis, John Stetch, Brad Turner, and Don Thompson.

The quartet specializes in original compositions and reimagined jazz standards, showcasing Danderfer's abilities as both a performer and composer. Beyond his quartet work, James is also a LEO award-winning composer for film and serves as an educator at The VSO School of Music, Capilano University and Vancouver Community College.
